The Garda Ombudsman is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man after an incident at the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.
The man in his 40s was arrested on Saturday night after Gardaí were called to an incident at the emergency department.
After he was released from custody, he collapsed and died at home.

The incident has been referred to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC).
The Garda watchdog said a post-mortem will be carried out this morning.
