The Gay and Lesbian Equality Network is welcoming comments from the Taoiseach earlier this evening in support of same sex marriage for lesbian and gay couples.

For the first time, the Taoiseach said he supports same sex marriage very strongly and Enda Kenny's confirmed he backs the proposal which will be put to the people in 2015.

In his first words on the issue, Enda Kenny chose a gathering of business leaders to make the announcement. In his speech he referred to the marriage equality issue and the decision by Cabinet today.
