A girl (14) has been killed in a crash in Co Kerry.

She was a front seat passenger in a car which left the road and hit a ditch, three miles from Scartaglen at 11.25 last night.

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver - a woman (20) - and another passenger - a girl (18 monts) - were taken to Tralee General Hospital.

Gardaí say their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

No-one else was involved in the accident.

The road has been closed for a forensic examination, and anyone who witnessed the incident is being asked to contact gardaí at Castleisland station.
