Ireland's ghost estates could be set to be demolished in the new year.

According to The Sunday Times, the Government has drawn up a list of unfinished and empty estates to be scrapped.

The Department of the Environment has been working with local authorities to target estates with "no commercial viability" - and contact the developer responsible.

Each developer is now deciding whether to comply with the demolition or propose an alternative "site-resolution plan".
