A man has been arrested and 5 firearms seized as part of an investigation into dissident republican activity in Dublin.

Gardaí carried out a planned search of a house on Church Road in East Wall shortly after half 1 this afternoon.

During the raid, they discovered 4 handguns, 1 shotgun and ammunition.

A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene.

He's being detained at Mountjoy Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
