Gardaí have seized cocaine worth €280,000 in County Kildare.

At around 8:30am this morning, Gardaí stopped a car on the M7 near Portlaoise.

Cocaine worth €35,000 was discovered in the car and seized.

A a man in his late 40s arrested and taken to Birr Garda Station.

Gardaí then carried out a follow-up search at a property in Kill where they found around 3.5kg of cocaine, which they valued at €245,000.

Investigators found the drugs in a cabin they suspect was used to mix and pack the drugs.

A press, scales and drug paraphernalia were also seized along with €3,500 in cash and two cars.

A man in his 50s was arrested and taken to Ronanstown Garda Station for questioning.
