Gardaí have confirmed they believe foul play was involved in the death of a man in north Cork at the weekend.
36-year-old Peter Murphy was found dead at his rented home in Shanavoher, just outside Mallow, on Saturday afternoon.
Gardaí say a post mortem has confirmed he died of injuries that were not self inflicted, but they will not reveal how he died.
They are now trying to trace his final movements, and believe his last contact was when he rang his mother around 4 o'clock on Thursday afternoon.
They are appealing for anyone who saw him after that time to contact them.
The body of Peter Murphy was found after a neighbour noticed a window broken at the house he was renting.
The landlord was contacted and he came across Mr Murphy's body which was found with injuries in the sitting room of the house.
Gardaí were notified and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
