The Garda Ombudsman (GSOC) has told TD Clare Daly that members of the force are refusing to co-operate with its inquiry into her arrest for alleged drink-driving.
GSOC has told Ms Daly it is also having trouble arranging a meeting with the local district officer to discuss her concerns.
The United Left TD has complained about how details of her arrest, in January 2013, were leaked to the media.
Independent TD Mick Wallace brought the news to the Dáil this evening - and said the events show that GSOC is still toothless.
“I think you would agree that if it takes two years and three months and still not at a conclusion to this investigation,” Mr Wallace said.
Wallace said that for such an investigation, “which isn’t, you would imagine... a massive one that was going to require unbelievable research on behalf of many personnel,” it is “an unsatisfactory situation” to still have no conclusion.
