The showers will be heaviest and most frequent in the north and northwest, merging into longer spells of rain with the risk of hail and thunder.
There will be some sunny spells too; the best of these early on in the day with the driest and mildest conditions holding across southern counties.
Highest temperatures will range 9C and 13C in moderate to fresh west to northwest breezes.
TONIGHT
Showers will become confined to north and northwest counties by early tonight.
Overall dry with long clear spells and just light northwest breezes.
Chilly with lowest temperatures ranging 1C to 5C; coldest across Munster with some possible grass frost.
