Some frost in places at first, clearing quickly.
Cold, bright and blustery this morning with sunny spells and scattered heavy rain or hail showers, some wintry in the north.
Showers will become confined to northern areas this afternoon and it will be mostly dry elsewhere and winds easing.
Afternoon temperatures will range from about 5 degrees in the north to 9 degrees in the south.
Tonight
Cold with frost in places early tonight and temperatures falling to between 0 and 3 degrees.
Heavy rain will move into the southwest early in the night and will spread northeast through Munster, much of Connacht and Leinster overnight.
Some very heavy falls can be expected in parts of the midlands and south with further flooding.
Some snow on higher ground of the midlands.
