Former Fianna Fáil councillor Gary O’Flynn has been jailed for three years for soliciting someone to kill a garda, a Revenue official and an accountant.
O'Flynn of Hayfield Drive, Whitechurch, Co Cork was given a five year sentence with the last two years suspended by Judge Sean O Donnabhain at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
The 39 year old pleaded guilty to the three charges related to soliciting a man to murder accountant Patrick Sweeney, Revenue official George Ross and Sergeant Mary Skehan.
O'Flynn served on Cork City Council from autumn 2003, when he was co-opted to replace his father, former Fianna Fáil TD, Noel O'Flynn, until he stood down in December 2008.
