This week, at the Motor Show in Geneva, Ford released two cars in particular that are keeping performance enthusiasts very happy – The all-new Focus RS and the all-new Ford GT.

Formula 1 legend Johnny Herbert was at hand to help launch these two machines and the new Mustang, Focus ST and Fiesta ST.

Jim Farley, Ford Motor Company Executive Vice President and President Europe, Middle East and Africa, said, “A passion for performance runs through our veins at Ford, and it’s our mission to make performance accessible to as many people as possible.”

The all-new Focus RS shows off the Ford Performance All-Wheel-Drive system and it is the first RS to offer selectable Drive Modes. The Ford GT supercar sets new standards for Ford in terms of the use of lighter-weight materials, aerodynamics and Ford’s EcoBoost technology.

Ford Focus RS
The all-new Focus RS all-wheel drive system with dynamic torque vectoring allows 70% of the drive torque to divert to the rear axle which enhances cornering, handling and traction. The car features 4 different drive modes including a first for the industry – Drift mode, which supports “controlled oversteer drifts on track”.

Another feature of the car is Launch Control. This allows the powertrain system to deliver the fastest acceleration possible by configuring the vehicle’s chassis. This RS uses a 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine and delivers more than 320hp.

Ford GT
The all-new Ford GT features a carbon fibre body and a more fuel efficient twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engine. Ford tells us that this is an “ultra-high-performance supercar that serves as a technology showcase for EcoBoost performance, aerodynamics and lightweight carbon fibre construction.”

Apparently this supercar produces more than 600hp and uses a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
