The race for the nomination of the Republican Party appears to be narrowing, and although Donald Trump is still ahead and remains poised to win the candidacy, Ohio governor John Kasich, Ted Cruz and even Jeb Bush are still in with a shout.

In the last few months, some onlookers have been horrified by Donald Trump’s offensive comments about Mexicans, Muslims and also women, when he accused Fox news journalist Megyn Kelly of menstruating as a way of deferring from his poor debate performance.

Speaking to Newstalk's Shona Murray, Political strategist Jimmy LaSalvia, author of 'No Hope: Why I left the GOP and you should too', revealed that he is at least partially to blame for the rise of the Donald.

Yanis Varoufakis encourages Irish voters to reject austerity-imposing Government

Former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis said Ireland has a choice to make on February 26th between those who have imposed austerity and those who offer an alternative. 

Varoufakis appeared via video-link at Saturday's Right2Change symposium in the Mansion House, which saw delegates from several unions and political parties sign up to a 10-policy platform to create a fairer society.

150,000 penguins die after large iceberg cuts off colony's food supply in Antarctica

Around 150,000 penguins have died after a large iceberg grounded near a colony of Adélie penguins in Antarctica.

A study, published in Antarctic Science, has found that the population at Cape Denison in Commonwealth Bay in December 2013 had reduced to around 10,000 penguins. The compares to a population in excess of 160,000 in 2011.

Tributes pour in for Philly McMahon as he remembers the untimely death of his brother

Dublin's Philly McMahon appeared on Irish television on Saturday night and spoke candidly about the loss of his brother John, who died at the age of just 31 in 2012.

During the course of the interview, McMahon said ''everything I am today is because of him. I've seen the pain he's gone through with drugs, and that's probably why I've taken up sport and business."

Jennifer Lawrence announces $2 million donation to children's hopsital

Jennifer Lawrence announced that she will be donating $2 million dollars to the Kosair Children's Hospital in Kentucky. 

Based in Louisville, Lawrence's hometown, the star has been visiting the children who receive treatment there and stated that those trips have had a profound effect on her.
