Fianna Fáíl would be marginally more popular than Fine Gael in the event of a sudden general election, according to a new poll.

The Behaviour & Attitudes poll, published in today’s Sunday Times, puts approval for Fianna Fáil at 27% with Fine Gael as the second most popular party on 26%.

Sinn Féin would be on 16% with Labour back on 5%, just ahead of the Greens and the AA-PBP - who each have 4%.

The poll also shows Micheál Martin remains the most popular of the party leaders, with Eamon Ryan in second place.

The research was conducted face to face on a sample of 898 eligible Irish voters from May 1st to 11th.
