A Tipperary man has been jailed for 17 years for what a judge described as a 'campaign of rape and abuse' against his three daughters at their Dublin home.
Ms Justice Margaret Heneghan said the man (50) exploited his weak and defenceless children, and abused their trust in the 'most evil and abhorrent manner'.
The eldest of the three girls was first sexually abused by her father in 1994 when she was nine-years-old.
Over nine long years, he repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted her until she ran away to England on her 17th birthday.
Her two younger sisters were also beaten and sexually abused at the family home in Dublin, until they were eventually taken into care.
Their father was convicted on 74 charges of rape and sexual assault by a jury last March.
The man fought the case all the way and his wife stood by him.
Imposing a 17-year custodial sentence, Ms Justice Margaret Heneghan said he had 'preyed upon each of these innocent girls for his own satisfaction' at home where they should have had security, care and love.
