John Kerry says Islamic State is "responsible for genocide"

US Secretary of State John Kerry has accused Islamic State of committing genocide against religious and minority groups.

Mr Kerry said in a news conference that "in my judgment, Daesh is responsible for genocide against groups in areas under its control including Yazidis, Christians and Shia Muslims".

He added that the militant group "is genocidal by self-proclamation, by ideology and by actions”.

St Patrick's Day celebrations take place across the country

Parades and festivities have taken place across the country to mark Ireland's national holiday.

In Dublin, half a million people, including more than 100,000 overseas visitors, are estimated to have attended the city's St Patrick’s Day parade.

Other parades took place in cities, towns and villages across the country, while celebrations are set to continue long into the night.

Brian Kerr's lack of a role with the FAI has been deemed a "disgrace" by Damien Duff.

The former Ireland international was speaking on Graham Hunter's The Big Interview podcast when the topic of Kerr was introduced to the conversation. The former St. Patrick's Athletic manager coached Duff at underage levels, as well as with the senior Ireland side.

Almost 200 landmarks turn green as St Patrick's Day goes global

St Patrick's Day celebrations have gone global as almost 200 landmarks from Rome to Sydney have turned green. 

Tourism Ireland says it's impossible to put a price on the publicity that Ireland receives around the world on March 17th.

Iconic buildings and monuments include the Great Wall of China, the London Eye and the 7 World Trade Center at Ground Zero in New York.

Na Piarsaigh made history this afternoon as they lifted their maiden All-Ireland senior hurling club championship, becoming the first Limerick side to do so.

A fast start saw them hit the back of the net after just 30 seconds and captain Cathal King said that this was how they wanted to execute their game plan.

"We were looking to play a whole 60 minutes high intensity match, because we hadn't done that yet" he explained.
