Gardaí have confirmed that a slip road off Dublin’s M50 will remain closed “for the next number of hours” after a fatal crash earlier today.

Investigators confirmed this afternoon that at least one person died in the crash involving a truck and a car just after 11am.

It happened on the slip road heading northbound at Junction 5, Finglas.

The road will remain closed while Gardaí carry out a forensic investigation of the crash site.

All lanes on the M50 northbound remain open.

A number of fire trucks and ambulances attended the scene alongside Gardaí.

Investigators have urged passing motorists to "remain focused on their driving and not cause unnecessary delays."

In a follow-up tweet investigators warned that motorists "slowing down unnecessarily" are causing further delays and repeated their request for drivers to remain focused on the road.
