The funeral of 21-year-old Shay Duffy will take place in the same town at 1pm.

Speaking from Carrickmacross this morning, Newstalk reporter Kyle Butler described the atmosphere as “heavy” on a foggy Saturday morning.

He told the Anton Savage Show that you could “feel the grief in the town."

Butler said he spent the previous evening speaking with locals, noting a strong sense of solidarity within the community as they remain “very strong and united."

“The whole town is carrying the weight together,” he added.

Chloe McGee, aged 23, was a woodwork and construction teacher at O’Fiaich College in Dundalk.

Shay Duffy was a plumber, where he completed his apprenticeship at Dundalk Institute of Technology last year.

It is understood that Catherine Connolly is due to attend both services, having also been present at the funerals held yesterday.

The funerals of Dylan Commins and Alan McCluskey took place on Friday, the 21st of November, in Ardee, Co Louth, and Drumcondrath, Co Meath.

The community across the region continues to mourn the loss of young lives lost.
