A Dublin man has admitted taking part in the attempted robbery of a bank nearly five years ago which involved using force on Kilkenny hurling All Ireland champion Adrian Ronan and his family.

Stephen Freeman of Ballcurris Gardens in Ballymun pleaded guilty to attempting to steal cash with others from the Bank of Ireland in Kilkenny on November 3rd, 2009.

He also admitted using force on Adrian and Mary Ronan and members of their family in order to frighten them.

On the opening day of his trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, the 27 year old changed his plea to guilty after having initially denied the charge.

Nolle prosequi were entered on the remaining counts.

He was remanded on continuing bail and will be sentenced on July 4th.
