Dublins newest bridge has been named after the trade unionist and Irish Citizen army activist Rosie Hackett.
Located at Marlborough Street, the Rosie Hackett will service the LUAS linkup and other forms of public transport.
Other names on the shortlist included novelist Bram Stoker, charity founder Willie Bermingham, Legion of Mary Founder Frank Duff and camogie player Kay Mills.
Dublin city council announced the name of the bridge this evening - the Rosie Hackett will be the first bridge over the river Liffey to be named after a woman.
