A bar in Dublin's Temple Bar has said it is investigating claims of alleged discrimination made by three students last weekend.

Speaking to RTÉ's Liveline earlier this week, two of the students from South Africa claimed they were denied entry to the city centre bar.

They alleged they were told "no black people allowed" when trying to enter.

The two students say the reported the incident to gardaí, and were told it was not a criminal offense. However, they were asked to return to give statements.

Busker’s Bar says they abhor "unlawful discrimination of any sort and welcomes an international and multicultural clientele of every gender, race, colour and creed".

In a statement posted on Facebook, the bar said: "It is this diversity that contributes to the success and appeal of Busker’s Bar and whereas management reserves the right to decline admission that flexibility can never extend to unlawful discrimination of any sort."

Confirming an investigating into the alleged incident, the bar's management team say they have been in contact with the three students who were refused entry.

"With respect to the rights of all parties involved, Busker’s Bar cannot comment further whilst the investigation is ongoing," the statement concludes.
