A 25-year-old man will be sentenced next month for his role in the murder of David 'Daithi' Douglas, who was shot dead in Dublin in July 2016.

Gareth Brophy from Reuben Walk, Dublin 8 was the driver of one of the cars used in the gangland murder.

On an afternoon in July 2016, a gunman approached Mr Douglas and opened fire as he was having something to eat inside his wife’s shop in Dublin’s south inner city.

He was shot six times in the head and chest.

His daughter, who was also in the shop at the time, rushed to his side but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Mr Douglas was targeted as part of the Kinahan-Hutch gangland feud, a feud which has claimed 18 victims to date.

Gareth Brophy admitted being the driver of the getaway car, and he will be sentenced next month.

Two others have also been convicted for their roles in the hit, including well known gangland figure Freddie Thompson, who was handed a life sentence for murder in August 2018.
