While many of the world's famous landmarks turned green for St Patrick's Day, so too did the Northern skies - albeit in a more natural way.
A spectacular display of aurora borealis could be seen from the Northern parts of Ireland and the UK last night.
Photographer Paul Cunningham captured the celestial light show at Glen Head in Columbkille in Donegal - which appeared as a result of increased solar activity, creating the colourful phenomenon more often seen from Nordic countries.
