Independent TD Peter Mathews has claimed that he wants to wear the "shirt for Ireland" in an interview with George Hook on Newstalk this evening.
Following Independent TD Peadar Tóibin's refuting of claims today that he was set to move to Fianna Fáil in the New Year, as well as Colm Keaveney's recent move to Fianna Fáil, there had been word spreading that Deputy Mathews has been given a month to decide if he wants to run for European Parliament with the party.
Speaking on the Right Hook today, Mathews insisted that we should be thinking of what's best for Ireland as a country, and he wants to fight for Ireland in Brussels and Frankfurt.
Listen to George Hook question Peter Mathews on his allegiances, as well as what he intends to do concerning the European Parliament elections next year, in front of a live audience at Cliff Town House in Dublin this evening.
