On-demand delivery service Deliveroo is set to expand its Irish operations.

The company is marking its first anniversary in Ireland.

Since its launch in 2015, it has signed-up more than 200 restaurants and created over 400 new jobs across its four hubs: Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast.

But the company says it plans to expand into Limerick in the coming months, which will create over 50 new rider jobs.

Oliver Dewhurst, Deliveroo Ireland general manager, says: "Ireland has far exceeded our expectations - the pace at which our service was adopted and has expanded in just 12 months has been an incredibly positive experience".

"Ireland is a real foodie nation and that's evidenced by the sheer breadth and quality of the high-end restaurant offering here, and also by the massive demand we've seen from customers".

The company says its deliverers, called riders, have covered more than 400,000km delivering meals to Irish homes and offices over the past 12 months.

Deliveroo launched in 2013 in London, and currently operates in 61 cities across 12 countries around the world.
