The Data Protection Minister is calling on mobile operators to invest more in their networks to avoid a repeat of yesterday's outage on the Three network.

Three has apologised for an electrical fault that affected 1.5 million of its customers.

People reported intermittent 2G and 3G services over a number of hours yesterday afternoon.

A full evaluation of what happened is now being carried out but it's not yet clear whether customers will be compensated.

Speaking to Lunchtime, Minister for Data Protection Dara Murphy says the outage was unacceptable and is calling on mobile operators to invest more in their networks:
