He was taken to hospital in a serious condition but passed away from his injuries today.

The car failed to remain at the scene and was later discovered a short distance away.

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for witnesses the hit-and-run.

Anyone who was in the area between 10.15pm and 10.30pm on Monday night is being asked to come forward.

A Facebook event says he will be remembered at a candlelit vigil at the Spire this evening.
