Thousands of people have marched in Galway city this afternoon for the Pride parade.
The Pride festival there is the oldest in Ireland.
Grand Marshall Pat Carey - the former Minister for Equality - has said that things are much better in now Ireland for young gay people.
But he said that there are still many homosexual people around the country who are living lonely lives, and need to be advocated for.
