There have been 4,004 new cases of COVID-19 in Ireland today.

The five-day moving average of new cases is now 4,377.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 patients being treated in hospital has today fallen below 500.

As of 8am, there were 481 confirmed cases in Irish hospitals, including 111 in ICU.

HSE CEO Paul Reid said hospitals will be “under real pressure” this month and next due to the virus.

He said: “We can all help to make this better by taking up the booster vaccine when offered.

“This weekend many locations open for walk-ins for specified groups.”

Booster vaccines are currently available for everyone aged 50 or older, with long queues again being reported at some walk-in vaccination centres this morning.
