The trial of two boys accused of raping a girl who was 16-years-old in 2022 has heard she was very distressed following the alleged offences.

The evidence was heard during a sitting of the Central Criminal Court in Cork.

The jury at the trial of the two boys, who were aged 13 and 15 at the time, heard the alleged incident on December 26th, 2022, had happened in the back of a car in a carpark in a field at Limerick Racecourse.

A third boy is also on trial, accused of aiding and abetting the two boys and with falsely imprisoning the girl.

The court heard evidence via video link from the complainant, who is now 18, that there had been consensual kissing with one of the boys but she had not consented to sex with either of the accused.

A friend of the complainant testified that after she returned to a bench inside the racecourse, the complainant was hysterical and had let out a couple of screams.

She also said the complainant had tucked herself into a ball after that and had also sobbed silently on the way home after a parent was called to pick them up.

The trial continues tomorrow.
