Another protest over the installation of water meters is underway in Cork.

Residents of the Ardmore Estate in Passage West have come together at the entrance to the estate after getting notification over the weekend that Irish Water workers are to begin installing meters in their estate.

Three months ago, protestors at Ashbrook Heights in Togher claimed victory after Irish Water removed meters from their estate after a five-week stand off.

These residents have been telling RedFM News why they are protesting.

Back in June, the Taoiseach was confronted by water charge protesters at the opening of a day hospital in Dublin.

While gardai were called to a demonstration against the meters in Portlaoise on June 5th.

And people living at Watermill Drive in Raheny in Dublin also staged similar protests to stop workers from installing the meters.

The Justice Minister has defended the presence of a large number of gardaí at protests against the installation of water meters because of illegal tampering with the system.
