Gardai in Cork are investigating an aggravated burglary during which a pensioner was injured.
It happened at around 3am this morning in Farranree.
An intruder entered the house through a window and demanded money from the elderly occupant - fleeing with a sum of cash.
The man aged in his 70s was injured and taken to the Mercy Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
An on-going investigation is taking place, with gardai checking the surrounding area for witnesses.
