A former Cork city councillor has been remanded in custody after pleading guilty to soliciting to murder a Revenue Commissioner official, an accountant and a detective garda.

Gary O'Flynn (37) of Hayfield Drive in Whitechurch appeared before Cork Circuit Criminal Court today.

He was arraigned on three separate charges of soliciting Roy McCarthy to murder three people: namely accountant Patrick McSweeney, Revenue official George Ross and Detective Garda Mary Skeehan.

The three charges are for dates unknown between the October 1st 2012 and February 15th 2013, at the Mallow Road in Cork.

He pleaded guilty to all three charges.

The court has heard he is currently serving a jail sentence for deception charges, which expires at the end of this month.

His legal team applied for an adjournment so they could gather reports on psychiatric treatment he is currently receiving.

The state objected to bail after his current sentence finishes - and he was remanded in custody until April 22nd.
