A man is being treated in hospital following a shooting in Coolock in Dublin yesterday evening.

The incident happened at Belcamp Crescent at around 7:30pm.

According to witnesses, a silver Volkswagen Boro pulled up beside the victim.

A passenger got out of the car and shot the victim twice with a handgun.

The car then drove away from the area.

The injured man in his 20s was taken by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital.

He's being treated for gunshot wounds to his leg, and his injuries aren't believed to be life threatening.

A technical examination is taking place at the scene, and gardaí have also begun house to house enquiries in the area.
