Universal Royalty, the group behind the a controversial child beauty pageant held in Ireland last year, are set to organise another event here later this year.

The group's website says the event will take place in September.

Last year, The Bracken Court Hotel in Dublin pulled out of hosting the controversial event, saying the Texan organisers did not inform them of the true nature of the pageant. The event was instead moved to a pub in Co. Monaghan at the last minute.

Members of the government, including Children's Minister Frances Fitzgerald, have voiced concerns about these events being held in Ireland.

The Children's Minister said last year that pageants go against the rights of children to be children, and are an unwelcome development here.
