There are fresh concerns about Beaumont Hospital this morning after its Chief Executive reportedly told staff it is "unsafe".
According to The Sunday Business Post, Liam Duffy told staff last month that the hospital needs to "regain stability as a matter of urgency" because capacity is currently at an unsafe level.
Duffy is said to have written to staff to say that 58 patients were in the hospital's emergency department on a particular day in August - and one had to wait 44 hours to be discharged.
Mr Duffy's warning comes four months after Beaumont's former clinical director Shane O'Neill resigned from his post over patient safety concerns.
