Coconut-lovers rejoice – there are no plans to ban the Bounty from Irish Celebrations tubs this Christmas.

Mars Wrigley is trialling Bounty-free boxes in the UK this year – after surveys found nearly four-in-ten people want to banish the Bounty for good.

The limited edition ‘No-Bounty’ boxes will see the coconut treats with extra Mars, Snickers, Milky Way, Galaxy and Maltesers.

In a statement to Newstalk this morning, Mars said Irish Bounty-lovers can rest easy for now.

It said the trial is a “UK-only campaign” with “no plans to bring it to Ireland at present”.

Mars is running the UK trial at selected Tesco Christmas Markets after the survey found mixed feelings about the treat.

Nearly one-in-five people said they would be irritated to find only Bounty bars left in the tub, while nearly 60% said that would lead to a family argument.

Meanwhile, 39% wanted the bars banished for good and 22% said they are their least-favourite option.

Nearly 30% said coconut has not place in a chocolate bar at all.

Despite the findings, Mars said it is not ready to make a final decision on the bar – with 18% naming it as their favourite.

Not only that, when it comes to people over the age of 55, Nearly 40% like Bounty best.
