The Church of England has called for a new inquiry into assisted dying after one of its former leaders spoke out in favour of the issue.

Ex-Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey says he's changed his mind on helping those with serious illness end their life.

The Church's health spokesman now says a bill to be debated this week should be dropped in favour of a more lengthy Royal Commission.
