Playing make-believe is an important part of everyone's childhood, but one school took action when a student claimed he could make a friend disappear using the ring from the 'Lord of the Rings'

New York Daily News reports that Aiden Stewart, 9, was suspended for Kermit Elementary School in Texas, after teachers accused him of threatening his classmate.

Aiden had recently watched 'The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies,' the last of the Hobbit trilogy, and was just acting out parts of the movie, according to his father Jason.

"Kids act out movies that they see. When I watched Superman as a kid, I went outside and tried to fly," he said.

In an email to the school, he questioned Aiden's ability to deliver on his 'threat:'

"I assure you my son lacks the magical powers necessary to threaten his friend’s existence. If he did, I'm sure he'd bring him right back."

It's not the first time Aiden has been suspended either, having been previously disciplined for referring to another student as black, and bringing a children's encyclopaedia to school which included an illustration of a pregnant woman.

The school has declined to comment, citing confidentiality policies.
