An investigation has been launched by gardaí in Waterford after a girl (2) was killed when a truck struck her buggy in the city this morning.
It happened just after 10am on Manor Street. The child was being transferred to University Hospital Waterford, but died in the ambulance.
Her mother (30) was also injured and was taken to hospital, where she was being treated for shock.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
In particular, they would like to speak to anyone travelling on a bus through Manor Street at the time.
The area was closed for a time this morning, but has since reopened.
