The Central Bank has launched a limited issue €10 collector coin to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Peace in Europe.

The coin is made from .925 Sterling Silver and comes in a presentation case. The Central Bank says the proof coin is produced using a "special, high-quality minting process" and made especially for collectors.

The coin was designed by artist, engraver and graphic designer Michael Guilfoyle.

8,000 units will be produced and will be on sale from 28th October, costing €55.

The Central Bank is also planning a number of other collector coins over the coming months.

1,000,000 pieces of a commemorative €2 coin will be issued this month to mark '30 Years of the European Flag'. All euro-issuing states will be circulating the coin, while the Central Bank is also set to produce 1,000 proof sets containing the commemorative coin.

Special €2 coins will be released next year to mark the centenary of the Easter Rising. One design - also from Michael Guilfoyle - will enter general circulation in January, while a second design will be used for gold and silver proof collector coins available in March.
