Heroin is likely to have contributed to the death of writer, model and TV presenter Peaches Geldof, an inquest in Britain has heard.

Geldof (25) was found lying on the edge of a bed in the spare room by her husband, Tom Cohen, on April 7th.

He had arrived at their home in Kent with his mother, thinking Peaches was asleep.

He located their 11-month-old baby Phaedra and called to his mother to ring emergency services, the hearing was told.

The inquest also heard Peaches' father, Bob Geldof, formally identified her body.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fotheringham said a post-mortem examination was inconclusive, prompting further tests.

But he told the inquest "Recent use of heroin and the levels identified were likely to have played a role in her death".

The inquest was adjourned until July 23rd.

Hours before she died, Peaches posted a picture of her as a youngster with her mother. Paula Yates died from an accidental heroin overdose in 2000 at the age of 41.

Peaches' funeral was held in the village of Davington - at the same church as her mother's. It was attended by celebrities including Kate Moss, Jaime Winstone and Jools Holland.

The mother of two's coffin included a picture of her young family.
