The case of a Liverpool man who sued a Cork hotel after he fell out a window has been thrown out after video footage emerged of him walking, shopping and driving.
Jason Platt claimed the lack of a safety guard caused him to fall three floors during a stay at the Old Bank Hotel in Kinsale with his fiancée over Valentine’s weekend 2009.
He told the High Court his injuries left him crippled and mostly housebound, but Mr. Justice Bernard Barton dismissed his case after viewing the surveillance footage.
Aviva Insurance welcomed the judgement, describing it as a victory for all their business customers and the economy.
