Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a collision claimed the life of a woman in Co Carlow yesterday.
At around 6:10pm four vehicles collided at Knockloe on the Tullow to Shilleagh Road (R725).
A female passenger (61) in one car was seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene.
She was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital, where a post mortem is expected to be carried out later.
The male driver of this car (71) was also injured and was taken to St Luke's Hospital in Co Kilkenny for treatment.
While the male driver of a second car (45) was also was taken to St Luke's Hospital for treatment.
The drivers of the other two cars (a man, aged 29, and a woman aged 28) were uninjured.
The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination but has since re-opened.
