The PSNI says a car used in the attempted murder of police officers in Belfast this week had been stolen from County Meath.

On Thursday evening a gunman opened fire on two police officers - their vehicle was struck eight times - however both escaped injury.

A black BMW 3 series was used in the incident and at the time had false number plates of 05 C 24774 on it - however it's now known the car was stolen from Ashbourne on the 7th of September and it's real registration is 05 LH 5364.
