Lawyer Valentin Ribet, a graduate of the London School of Economics, has been named as one of the 127 people killed in the Paris terror attacks.

"Lawyers have lost one of their colleagues, Valentin Ribet. We share the pain of his family and his family. We are thinking of them," the Paris union of young lawyers (UJA) said in a statement.

LSE tweeted the "sad news" about Mr Ribet, who graduated from the university, where he had been studying international law, in 2014.

"Our hearts are filled with sadness at this news," a statement said.

Downing Street has said a small number of British nationals have been caught up in the attacks.

David Cameron had earlier said "we must be prepared for a number of British casualties" from the atrocities.

The Prime Minister has condemned the "brutal and callous murderers" behind the attacks in the French capital on Friday.

Meanwhile, the girlfriend of a missing British man believed to have been caught up in the Bataclan concert hall siege fears for his safety.

Polina Buckley said she had not heard from her boyfriend Nick Alexander since before the Paris terror attacks on Friday evening.

A number of friends and relatives of those reported missing have appealed for information on Twitter about their loved ones using the hashtag #rechercheParis.

Irish people currently in Paris are being urged to exercise caution with reports that one Irish citizen was injured in the attacks. Anyone concerned about the whereabouts of their friends or relatives can contact the Department of Foreign Affairs helpline on: 00353 1 408 2000..
