It's likely to be several more weeks before a Government can be formed, according to Fine Gael MEP for Dublin Brian Hayes.
He says that at the moment Fine Gael is pursing a minority government rather a Fine Gael-Fianna Fáil "grand coalition".
Enda Kenny is in onging talks with a number of smaller parties and independent TDs.
MEP Hayes says that most Irish people don't want anther election, and instead "want to see politicians working out a deal that will have a sensible and stable government."
