A garda who was shot while on holiday in New Orleans has issued a statement, thanking the hospital where he was treated in the US.

Brian Hanrahan (30), who is from Co Tipperary but stationed in Newscastle West, Co Limerick was visiting New Orleans with his father when he was shot during a robbery last month.

Finally, he said he would like to thank his colleagues in the gardaí and the amazing community in Newcastle West for their support and well wishes.
