The bodies of five babies have been found in a house in south-west France.
Four children were discovered in a freezer after a man reported finding a newborn in a thermal bag in his home near Bordeaux.
Police searched the house in Louchats, near Bordeaux, on Thursday evening.
The man, 40, said he was not aware if his wife was pregnant or not. He has been taken into custody
His wife, 35, has been hospitalised and will undergo medical examination.
The couple have two daughters aged 13 and 15.
