Although few were able to remember exactly which date Father’s Day falls this June, there was no doubt that their favourite Irish dad was rugby hero and Off The Ball co-presenter Brian O’Driscoll.

However, BOD was trumped by Breaking Bad’s scheming anti-hero Walter White who rated higher as one of the world’s most inspiring fathers.

Over 300 Irish fathers took part in the survey by Irish Life ahead of this weekend’s Father’s Day celebrations.

While the top spots were nabbed by US President Barack Obama and President Michael D Higgins, the infamous methamphetamine 'cook' still managed to place fourth on the list ahead of Keith Duffy, Ronan O’Gara, Jamie Oliver and O’Driscoll.

The poll also revealed that ‘Dad’ is the most popular name for fathers (52%) with ‘Da’ (11%) and ‘Daddy’ (8%) the other most popular names.

And what’s the best gift you can give your pop this year?

Irish dads surveyed rated a meal alone with their wife or partner as their most desired present this Father’s Day closely followed by an opportunity to put their feet up and chill out for the afternoon.

Be sure to tune in come September when BOD will be joining the Off The Ball team - he might even drop a couple parenting tips too!
